Passed away on Wednesday September 23rd, 2009 at the age of 84. Beloved Husband of Helen. Cherished father of Keith (Edita) and Paul (Fuza). Special grandfather to Ryan, Sarah, Alexander, and Julia. Loving brother of Louis (Susy) of Vienna, and Gerald (Maria) of Marbella, Spain. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Philip worked for Pan american World Airways as a Radio Operator, Navigator, and Pilot, owned the first flower shop and art gallery at the Trinidad Hilton Hotel, and was Sales Manager of 610 Radio in Port of Spain. Philip was the originator of the Twinning and Mundialization of the cities of St. Catharines and Port of Spain (1968). Philip has been an active community member and leader in his place of birth, Port of Spain, Tinidad and Tobago, and has served as; President of the Tinidad and Tobago Magic Circle - Ring 91, and was Territorial Representative (Caribbean) of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Area Officer - Northern Division of the Trinidad and Tobago branch of the British Red Cross, member of the 610 Radio National Broadcasting Services (NBS) media family, Founder and President of the Port of Spain Twinning Association, Honorary Member of the Sargeants' Mess of the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force, Founder and President of the Kiwanis Club of Port of Spain, Headquarters Commissioner for public relations of the Scout Association of Trinidad and Tobago. Philip was an active member of the Field Naturalists Club, the Trinidad Rifle Association, the Trinidad and Tobago Amateur Radio Society (HAM radio,) participated in many amateur theatrical groups, had his own T.V. show on TTT, "Magic wiith Phil" and was a member of the Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts. He was rthe recipient of the Scouting Medal of Merit. In 1972 , Philip immigrated to Canada with his family and settled in St. Catharines, Ontario, where he continued as an active community member and leader serving as; President of Garden City Kiwanis, President of the St. Catharines Folk Arts Council, Founder and President of the Chinese Cultural Association of Niagara, President of the Old Tyme Fiddler's Association of Niagara. Philip was the Honorary Chairman of the St. Catharines Twinning Association, and he was a long time member of Grantham Lodge 697 of the Masonic Order. Philip was a talented magician, musician, and HAM Radio Operator (9Y4PA, VE3GUO.) Philip was active in marketing, promoting tourism in Niagara and was the inspiration for the Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls, which transformed tourism from a seasonal to a year round activity. Philip developed the Marketing Plan that led to the revitalization of Port Dalhousie in St. Catharines. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday September 30th. Memorial donations to the Office of International Services, Brogk University, St. Catharines. 

It is with great sadness that I advise you all that our dear friend, the father of Twinning is ill. Mr.  Phil Atteck, the pioneeer visionary who brought Port of Spain, Trinidad and St. Catharines together more than 40 years ago is in hospital. We have all been changed by his love of magic and his love for his fellow man.
