Flag-Raising Ceremony

1:30 pm. on August 31st 2011

The Mayors here in St. Catharines and also in Port of Spain will be holding a simultaneous flag-raising ceremony at the flag poles in front of City Hall. The event is to commemorate the ongoing twinning of the two cities. In St. Catharines our local steel band, P.K. Hummingbird, will be there to play Trinidadian music for us. During the ceremony the Mayors will raise the flags of their sister-city. We would like to have as many citizens of St. Catharines come to attend. So, all are welcome. Come and enjoy the music.

FEBRUARY 2011 TRIP BY TWINNING MEMBERS.

Bust - Captain A.A. Cipriani which was sculpted by Sybil Atteck.

The photo above was taken on the balcony at Port of Spain City Hall when some visitors from St. Catharines paid a courtesy call on the present mayor of Port of Spain, His Worship, Louis Lee Sing.
The weather was great, and the Port of Spain Twinning Association members were wonderful, kind hosts.  We were taken sightseeing, climbed up inside the Queen’s Royal College clock tower, toured the botanical gardens, shopped at modern shopping malls, visited two pan yards and several mas’ camps, drove South to spend a day visiting two marvellous Hindu Temples, see some mud volcanoes, lunch at a food court in a shopping mall, and take the boat into the Caroni Bird Sanctuary to enjoy the sight of the scarlet ibis and white egret flying in to settle on the mangrove for the night.
